Natascha Eyber (née Schmitz) was trained and certified as a Pilates instructor in 2003/2004 directly by the founder and director of BASI® (Body Arts and Science International®), Rael Isacowitz. She is the managing director of BASI® Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Scandinavia. Since 2006, she has been a member of the BASI® faculty and was appointed to the Principal Faculty in 2019. From 2021 to 2023, she served as the chair of the Educational Committee of BASI® Pilates and was a member of the Institute Committee of the German Pilates Association e.V. from 2022 to 2024.
Natascha Eyber received her diploma in dance and dance education from the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Heidelberg-Mannheim and has worked as a dancer and dance educator in theaters and dance schools. She has also been a director and choreographer for events, musicals, opera, and theater and served as the artistic director of the international musical production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” Since 2002, she has mainly focused on pedagogical work. Until 2009, she was an assistant to Susan Quinn at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance SEAD in Salzburg, where she taught ballet and Pilates. After moving to Munich, she worked for another year as a ballet lecturer at the Dance Center Iwanson in Munich. Natascha is also a Dan holder in Karate JuSul under Grandmaster Kwon.
In 2009, Natascha Eyber founded the Pilates House in Munich, now known as BASI Pilates Studio Munich, which also serves as a training center for BASI® Pilates in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Scandinavia. In addition to her intensive training with Rael Isacowitz and completing his Legacy Program, she has attended numerous continuing education courses with international teachers and professors such as Karen Clippinger, Alan Herdman, Deborah Lessen, Andry Vleeming, and others.
Her primary interest in Pilates work lies not only in the biomechanical connections but also in the philosophical aspects of the method. Her work has been strongly influenced by her over 20 years of collaboration with Rael Isacowitz. Since 2023, she has been teaching the BASI Mentor Program and is proud and grateful to share the work of Rael Isacowitz.
